I like to lift weights at home. It saves me a trip to the gym. Three year old Kubla wants to help. I’m afraid he’s going to get crushed by a dumbbell.
Liping tries to keep him away. He cries. Exercise is supposed to relieve stress. This isn’t working.
I get an idea. I go to the store and wrap a gift for Kubla—a set of 1 pound dumbbells.
“Kubla, will you work out with me today?”
I teach him how to lift weights. No one is in the way. Exercise has never been so joyful.
What do you do when your child is ‘in the way’?
In two weeks I’ll give a free Kidorable Umbrella to whoever makes my favorite comment and shares this post on the platform of their choice.
